Operating principle is based on the buoyancy force of a process liquid which acts on the float causing the float to move with the liquid surface. The movement of the float moves an attraction sleeve into the field of the switch magnet, pulling the magnet toward the sleeve and actuating the switch.

Depending on destination float switches Series 3 can be divided according to following construction designs:
ASME B31.1 – float switches with construction whcih meets requirements of this standard are destined for level detection of clean liquids in applications existing in power industry

ASME B31.3 – float and displacer switches with construction which meets requirements of this standard are destined for level detection of clean liquids in applications existing in petrochemical industry

NACE – float and displacer switches with construction which meets requirements of NACE MRO175 and MRO103 standard. Destined for level detection of sour liquids in applications existing in oil and gas industry
