1-6940 Cryo control valves are designed for very low temperatures (down to -196°C) encountered in the cryogenic industry and in natural gas liquefying plants (NGL).
Made with materials selected specifically for this type of service, Cryo valves are normally tested immersed in liquid nitrogen, using helium as the test fluid in accordance with standard BS6364.
The construction is the same as 1 -6941 and 1-6943 globe valves with the exception of the extension bonnet with cold box to keep the cryogenic liquid out of the packing area allowing buildup of gas in the warmer bonnet area.
They are available with either a metal or teflon seal between the seat and the plug (seat leakage class VI under IEC 60534-4) and with low emissions (live-loading) packing certified by TA-Luft.
